Modern Band Ensemble
Grades 7 – 8 · Full modern band
A fifth stream of music education — alongside orchestra, jazz, marching band and chorus — built on the music students actually listen to.

Modern Band is an instrumental and vocal music stream that focuses on repertoire written within the past fifty years, taught on the instruments students recognize from their own lives: guitar, bass, drums, keys and voice, plus music technology. Our programming follows the OCT curriculum for the Arts, and our itinerant music teachers are trained in the modern-band methodology — some hold OCT/ECE certification. We work with your team as an extension of your school, not as a vendor passing through.

Modern Band Ensemble runs well in these venues:

Junior Jammers
The first stage of the modern-band journey — singing in tune, keeping a beat, and making music together.

Ukulele Program
An in-class ukulele ensemble where students play modern repertoire together — chords, rhythm, solfège, performance.

Guitar Program
The ukulele grows up: students move to guitar and play the songs they hear every day, together.

Digital Music Production
Where students become authors: writing, recording and producing their own music on the tools the industry uses.
