Story

Rockstar Music was founded in 2012. We started teaching music the way we wished we'd been taught — on the instruments students recognize from their own lives, with repertoire from the past fifty years, and with a stage to play it on at the end of every term.

Today, Rockstar is a network of more than 250 university-educated musicians, teachers, and recording-industry professionals across Canada. We run private lessons, community music programs, and full co-curricular partnerships — and our community-programs team partners with schools, community centres, daycares and Montessori programs, libraries, camps, and senior homes across Ontario.

We do this for the love of music. Our mission is to share that love with every community we work in.

How we work

Four principles we won't bend on.

  1. 01

    Modern instruments. Modern repertoire.

Music education that reflects the music students actually listen to — written within the past fifty years, played on guitar, ukulele, bass, drums, piano and voice.

  2. 02

    Partner, not vendor.

We work as an extension of your team. We plan around your calendar, your facility, your community — not around our preferred way of doing things.

  3. 03

Every term ends in a show.

Every after-school class, every workshop series ends in a live performance. Showcases make families feel proud, and make the work visible to the community.

  4. 04

    Credentialed, vetted, insured.

Vulnerable-sector checks across the team, individual insurance, and OCT/ECE certifications where the role requires them. Documentation packages on request.

The network

250+ instructors

Across Ontario, since 2012

Our community-programs team is built from the broader Rockstar Music Central network — over 250+ university-educated musicians, certified music therapists, and recording-industry professionals across Canada. Every itinerant instructor is trained in the modern-band methodology, vetted with a vulnerable-sector check, and individually insured.

Let's build something.

We're happiest when we're helping a partner figure out what good programming looks like in their venue. Fifteen minutes is enough to start.
